Animal Magica is a world of cozy and adventurous fantasy stories set in a place called Symvalia — a magical archipelago known as the Forty-two Isles. In these stories, humanoid characters — dwarves, halflings, elves, humans, orcs, fae, gnomes, and many more — form deep, magical connections with animal and creature companions.
These stories blend slice-of-life warmth with epic adventure, exploring themes of friendship, growth, and the power of connection.
The Magica Bond
At the heart of everything is the Magica Bond — a life-altering magical connection formed between a humanoid person and a creature companion. This bond links them emotionally and spiritually, granting both unique magical abilities tied to their personality, skills, and even their dreams.
The bond isn’t guaranteed for everyone, and it can never be forced. It must be mutual — both person and creature choose each other.
Imagine witty banter between a halfling baker and her sly fox companion, a knight retiring to run a dragon café in an enchanted walking cottage, or a band of heroes rebelling against a tyrannical Usurper King.
A World Built on Connection
The Forty-two Isles were created when the spirit Arialma merged herself with the land, splitting the ancient supercontinent into forty-two islands — each infused with her personality and with magic. Magic in this world is a benevolent natural force, an energy that flows through all matter and life, seeking to be wielded.
The peoples of the Isles are as diverse as the landscape — from the bold, honour-driven orcs of the desert to the inventive, hyperactive gnomes, from the gentle halflings who live for good food and festivals to the mysterious fae of the Eastern Isles. What unites them is that magic comes through relationship, not power level.
